Hardware Implementation
Haptic Gloves
- Haptic Gloves to play musical instruments like guitars or keyboards?
- gloves that play electronic music based on hand posture - need to include haptic feedback for when notes change maybe
- Using motors to pull back on your fingers to create the illusion of tension (later found this in the YouTube video on the industry page)
- Input/gesturing/haptic feedback on one hand depends on that of the other
- Use of ferromagnetic fluids in time-dependent magnetic fields for the illusion of smoothness or texture?
- vibrotactile bracelets can reproduce the vibrations of the steering wheel of a race car driven in rough terrain - Pacchierottie et al (Taxonomy paper 2017). Maybe the glove can also have a bracelet component
- Trying to think and find of ways of incorporating thermals too
- Gloves or an eco skeleton that lets you interface with most computer UIs or with games
Haptic Helmet
- 15/10/2021: Maybe a sort of self-stabilising gyroscopic helmet, where the helmet and its discs rotate in an opposite direction to the neck. This could be used to creat a sense of heaviness on one side of the player, which can facilitate passive players redirection/guidance, sound location and stereophonic enhancements, or wounds and approaching enemies
Haptic Belt
Haptic wristbands / forearms
Haptic Ring
- For notifications on phone?
- Cant think of much functionality beyond that
- Could include ring like component on the glove too?
Haptic Sleeve
- From shoulder area to wrists or even all the way to finger tips?
